Air showers

Air showers are specialized enclosed antechambers which are incorporated as entryways of cleanrooms and other controlled environments to reduce particle contamination. Air showers utilize high-pressure, HEPA- or ULPA-filtered air to remove dust, fibrous lint and other contaminants from personnel or object surfaces.

Laminar air flow

Laminar air flow systems are typically employed across 80% of a cleanroom ceiling to maintain constant air processing. Stainless steel or other non shedding materials are used to construct laminar air flow filters and hoods to prevent excess particles entering the air.

DESIGN QUALIFICATION

User requirements should be considered when deciding on the specific design of a system or equipment

To lay down the design philosophy of the system viz. Class, Temperature, RH conditions of the rooms.

DQ document should contain detailed design calculations, general arrangement schematic, internal component details depicting material of construction details and ratings.

INSTALLATION QUALIFICATION

To demonstrate that the system installed in building confirm to the purchase/ design specifications.

To Verify all Major components..

Description of required supporting utilities :Electrical, water/ brine, steam etc.

Applicable for new installation, modification, replacement, or relocation of any equipment of the system

OPERATIONAL QUALIFICATION

To determine that the system operates according to specifications, recording all relevant data for demonstrating that it functions as expected.

Validating various parameters using calibrated instruments and simultaneously recording data.

Establishing various SOPs as per clients requirement.

Compiling Manuals of various equipment's of the system.

PERFORMANCE QUALIFICATION

To determine that the system is delivering the intended performance consistently and recording all relevant information and data.

PQ can be performed in three stages.

At-rest” (equipped but no operations and no personnel).

Operational” (with personnel, equipment operations)

➢ Multiple stage filtration.

➢ Dilution by increasing air quantity in circulation commonly measured in terms of ACPH.

➢ Addition of fresh air in the supply air and balancing it with proper exhaust from the system

➢ Designing Cleanliness class to establish / achieve desired Recovery time.

❖ Establishing and maintaining the prescribed temperature and RH requirement in various process area:

➢ Cooling and dehumidification through chilled water / brine coils or a combination of both using modulating valves via field sensors.

➢ Low / Ultra Low RH levels with dehumidifier (Rotary / Liquid Desiccant).

➢ Reheat with hot water coils / Steam coil / electric heaters

➢ Terminal / Zone reheaters / after coolers for zone control

❖ Monitoring and control of Pressure regimes:

➢ Classified and unclassified areas segregated by maintaining pressure gradient between them.

➢ Quantifying the amount of air leakages through door gaps / other cracks and balancing it with appropriate quantum of supply / return air.

➢ Differential pressures maintained by control of supply and return air quantities, manually or automatically by pressure sensors
